A new era of retro vibes has arrived in Sweden with the launch of Nostalgi, a radio station dedicated entirely to music from the 1980s. Broadcasting on FM 105.1 in Stockholm, Nostalgi is here to entertain listeners with the biggest hits of the decade, along with fresh updates, fun competitions, news, and traffic reports.
The Swedish launch is part of a broader European success story. Nostalgi originally began in Lyon, France in 1983 and has since grown into an international brand with over 5 million daily listeners across six countries, including Belgium, Switzerland, Finland, and Lebanon. The station is owned by NRJ Group, which acquired Nostalgi in 1998 and has continued to expand the brand globally.
In Sweden, Nostalgi replaces Svensk Pop on the FM frequency, although Svensk Pop will continue as a digital station via DAB+ and RadioPlay.
“Nostalgi is a proven format across many of our European markets,” says Richard Mazeret, CEO of Nostalgi in Sweden and head of NRJ’s international radio division. “The 80s music trend is incredibly strong among various audience groups, and we’re excited to bring this beloved format to Swedish listeners.”
The station targets primarily an audience in their 40s—those who grew up with the music of the 80s—but aims to attract younger generations as well, who are rediscovering the sounds of that iconic era.
Among the new Swedish hosts are Thomas Hindersson and Karolina Widerström, who will guide listeners through a mix of timeless 80s hits, current events, and practical information for daily life.
The launch of Nostalgi on FM builds upon the station’s 2020 debut on DAB+ in Sweden, and marks the next chapter in its Scandinavian expansion. Most recently, Nostalgi also began broadcasting digitally in the Netherlands.
With its nostalgic charm and energetic programming, Nostalgi is set to become a favorite for all Swedes looking to relive—or discover—the magic of the 1980s.
